Craft Beer

Craft beer sampler is now available at Bespoke Hair.

The first outing to fill the new growler was to Barebottle Brewing Co. in Bernal Heights. It’s a great open, lively space. Their brewing focus is innovative beers inspired by the San Francisco Bay Area using local ingredients wherever possible. The recommendation came from Kate — craft beer aficionado, my dear friend and Bespoke Hair patron. I myself am more of a whiskey drinker. So, I’ll be relying on guidance from Kate for all things craft beer.

Still being winter, she recommended we lean more to heartier options for the first Bespoke Hair craft beer sampler. We tried 7 different brews – mostly ales, a couple of IPAs, plus a porter, a stout. Kate’s beer suggestions were spot on. All were interesting and worthy of a Sunday afternoon tasting. However, the Any Beans Necessary – Golden Ale w/Coffee stood out. Not too heavy and very smooth, with a subtle coffee finish… perfect for late winter in the Bay Area.

Thanks Kate!!!

Samples of Any Beans Ale are available at Bespoke Hair until the growler runs dry.

Cheers,

Anthony

Shoe Sole Upgrade to Vibram Fun

There’s a great shoe repair shop near the salon – Anthony’s Shoe Service. They are traditional craftsmen with a flair for the modern. In addition to the usual polishing, resoling and repairs, the owner is an official Vibram Cobbler. The wide variety of shoe sole textures, treads and colors that Vibram makes can re-create a pair of shoes or boots.

I recently needed my favorite pair of cognac wingtip boots resoled. I decided to switch it up a bit by going to a Vibram sole – I knew I wanted blue, but I had no idea there could be so many choices. With some patient help from the owner we decided on an eco-sole in marine blue. The result has been great. I think I’ll go for red on the next pair.

Inspiration

As an artist, I look for inspiration all around. Over the Christmas holiday break I took a day trip to L.A. to visit the Getty Center. The crisp, clear day was filled with paintings, sculpture, gardens, food, drink and well…inspiration. The Getty Center really does make a perfect day trip.
