I’m an artist first and foremost…
as an artist, I’m attracted to the simplicity of form and function. For hair, I believe form and function means having a grooming routine that fits your lifestyle and a look that you can own, instead of a haircut or beard style owning you.
Barbering techniques, for men and women, have always been an important skill set for me. In recent years, I’ve focused on honing my craft and expanding my men’s services expertise by refining clipper skills, beard trimming, straight edge razor shaving and developing a signature men’s facial. I’ve drawn from education resources including Baxter of California, Vaughn of V76, master barbers, estheticians and others to refine my skills.
In 2019, I took a step beyond continuing education to pursue a Barber License and achieve my goal of becoming dual licensed as a Cosmetologist and Barber. After completing the Cinta Aveda Institute Master Barber Crossover Course in late 2019, I successfully passed the California State Board Barber exams in early 2020 – mission accomplished.
Hair became my vocational artistic expression almost two decades ago. First, in a large salon where I became a master stylist, colorist and educator. In the past 10 years, I’ve worked as an independent stylist. I’ve always strived to enhance my skills by participating in classes and internships around the world – including Dop Dop Salon NYC, L’Oréal, Vidal Sassoon, Alexandre de Paris Academie in France, and Bumble.
Beyond hair…
my artist endeavors include writing, photography and cooking (I’m a former chef). Travel, especially by motorcycle (an art and a sport in my view) is also a passion. I am a native Texan and have called the Bay Area home for 20+ years.
